Weather Situation
A ridge extends over the state from a high in the Tasman Sea that is slowly
moving eastwards. A trough will move east across southern and central
Queensland on Tuesday, crossing the east coast on Wednesday morning. A new
ridge will extend over the state in the wake of the trough as a new high moves
east across southern Australia.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 22 June
Partly cloudy. Patchy fog inland early this morning. Medium chance of showers
along the coastal fringe, slight chance elsewhere. Winds southeasterly 15 to 25
km/h tending easterly in the middle of the day then becoming light in the late
afternoon. Daytime maximum temperatures in the low to mid 20s.

northeasterly about the southwest in the evening and fresh at times about the
northern interior. Light to moderate east to southeasterly elsewhere, fresh at
times about the northeast coast. Maximum temperatures above average south of
Mount Isa to Mackay, near average elsewhere.

Forecast for Monday 23 June
Isolated showers along the east coast, tending scattered about the Central
Coast and exposed parts of the South East Coast, and tending widespread at
times over the Cassowary Coast. Isolated showers about the southwest. Mostly
sunny elsewhere. Possible morning fog about the southeastern interior towards
Moranbah. Maximum temperatures above average south of Mount Isa to Mackay, near
average elsewhere.

Forecast for Tuesday 24 June
Mostly sunny in the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered
about the southern interior. The chance of a thunderstorm about Torres Strait.
Possible morning fog inland in eastern districts south of Charters Towers.
Maximum temperatures near average for the far southwest as well as northern
Cape York Peninsula, above average elsewhere.

Forecast for Wednesday 25 June
Isolated showers for eastern districts, clearing from the southeast during the
morning. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Possible morning fog in eastern districts
south of Charters Towers. Maximum temperatures above average for eastern
districts south of Cairns, near average elsewhere.

Outlook for Thursday 26 June to Saturday 28 June
Isolated showers about the east coast, becoming scattered north of Townsville.
The chance of a thunderstorm about Torres Strait. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
Morning frost about the southern and central interior. Maximum temperatures
near average.
